JOHOR BARU – PAS central committee member Nasrudin Hassan is urging the government to cancel the upcoming Coldplay concert in Kuala Lumpur, saying it will only spread deviant beliefs.

Taking to Facebook, Nasrudin also suggested that the British rock band’s concert, slated for November 22, would not bring any benefits from a religious, racial or national perspective.

“Does the government want to breed a deviant and hedonistic culture in this country?

“I would advise (the government) to just cancel this band’s performance in Malaysia.

“It does not bring any good for religion, race and nation,” the PAS Syura Council member and former Temerloh MP said.

In his post, he shared photos of Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin performing while holding a rainbow flag, which is one of the most recognised symbols of the LGBT community.

Coldplay had earlier announced their Music of the Spheres tour in Asia, with various stadium concerts planned in November.

According to the band’s website, their show in Malaysia will be held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also expressed enthusiasm. He took to social media to welcome the band, saying “See you in November!”.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale on May 17. – The Vibes, May 10, 2023
